Daylillies

I wanted to document my daylilys. I have planted quite a few this year and several of them have bloomed. These have been planted for at least one year, some of them more. Unfortunately each bloom only lasts a day. I got a lot of these daylilys last year when I visited with my sister. She gave me a bunch and we went to a daylily farm. If you've never been to one, you are really missing an experience. They have their lilies in the ground and they dig them up for you. If you're fortunate enough to go when they are blooming, you will see exactly what you are getting. I know there used to be one on the other side of Madisonville and know there are at least 2 of them up around my sister.
This is not a day lily, but I do love it. It's called a Stargazer. It smells soooo good.
My ditch lillies have been planted here about 20 years or so. They have spread and been divided several times.

Sundried Tomatoes

I have found a recipe that looks really good. It calls for sundried tomatoes. Since we all know how expensive they are I decided to make my own. I have four trays for drying and I filled it two times. It takes a while (about 6 or 7 hours) but in the end I had a bunch of leathery tomatoes. I put them in freezer bags and froze them. This winter they will be mighty tasty.

About Me

My photo
Princeton, Kentucky, United States
I live in Western KY which is Zone 6. I am an avid gardener. I do this in my spare time as I am a wife, mother, grandmother to 4 and work full time outside the home. My favorite flowers to grow are unusual flowers, shrubs and bulbs. In the spring I like to spend my weekends visiting nurseries to find unusual things to plant.
